This isn’t the kind of place you can bring a big rig to, but if you’ve got a Transit, HiAce or similar, it’s perfect for a night or two. It’s a council picnic area and small carpark (15-20 spaces), situated between the beach and Sea Acres coastal rainforest. Most of the car spaces face the beach and are about 3-4m from the edge of the sand. There are also a couple of parking spaces under shady pine trees.
There’s a toilet and shower block, lit by solar power, as well as a beach shower. Picnic tables, fireplaces and bins are all there. There’s a corner store, petrol, takeaway and pharmacy 400m up the hill at the intersection with Pacific Dr.
The beach is part of the 9km coastal walking track from Port Macquarie town centre to Lighthouse Beach, and the next beach south is an unofficial nudist beach.
Expect to have brush turkeys and 2m-long monitors come down from the rainforest to join you for lunch, and magpies to steal unguarded sausages 🙂
