A beautiful spot to just chill out for a few days.
Located on the banks of the Macquarie river approximately 1hr north of Bathurst.
Access can be tricky when wet, and may require 4WD, but we have always managed.
Black Gate Reserve has a 2x composting toilets and a large flat grassy area right next to the river.
Other cleared areas for camping would require an onboard toilet or a hole in the ground.
No mobile or internet coverage which may be a problem for some.
Lots of good walks, birds, flowering plants, historic gold mine shafts, 4WD tracks. A friend and I walked to Hillend. Made it! But be warned that last 7 kms is a relentlessly constant uphill. Great pub when you get there though.
